By Ray Beste
Alexandria, Mn (May 30th, 2009) - Buffalo, Mn ace Eric Breeschoten bested a very nice field of 15 WISSOTA Late Models. In other action Dennis Bitzan picked up the win in the WISSOTA Modifieds while Mike Peterson grabbed top honors in the WISSOTA Super Stock division. Jason Hoffman. Andrew Bangsund scored his first career victory in the WISSOTA Street Stock division with Jason Hoffman reigning victorious in the WISSOTA Midwest Modified division. Fans and drivers alike were treated to some great Amsoil Dirt Track Series racing once again at the big half mile located on the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Alexandria, Mn.

Starbuck, Mn driver Todd Berg took the early lead in the WISSOTA Midwest Modified A-main. Berg brought the 26-car field around and was scored the leader at the conclusion of the first lap. On lap two third starter Jason Hoffman took a peak to the inside of Berg in turn one. Hoffman was able to take the lead as they raced down the backstretch. Jeremy Kerzman quickly moved into the second spot while the field sized up in tow. Kerzman quickly moved in on the backside of Hoffman and pressure him for the lead while the #5H car of Brett Hoium began to work his way forward. After starting tenth, Hoium entered the top five with five laps remaining while the battle up front was a good one. Kerzman loaded up his Eagle Chassis machine and took a peak to the inside of Hoffman in turn one. Hoffman was able to keep his high side momentum and held the lead with four to go. Hoium snuck by William Lund for the fourth spot with two laps remaining while Kerzman regrouped in second. Kerzman through everything but the kitchen sink at him in the remaining laps but Hoffman crossed the line first picking up the victory. Kerzman settled for a hard fought second place finish while Brian Haben, Hoium and Lund rounded out the top five.

Justin Vogel took the early lead on lap one of the WISSOTA Street Stock A-main. Vogel led the entire first lap before Randy Laage stole the spot on lap two making an inside move in turn three. Laage remained out front while Bangsund moved into second bringing Henry Peters with him. Bangsund quickly pressured the backside of Laage while Peters remained strong in fourth. With four laps remaining Laage got a bit too high in turns three and four and the opportunistic Bangsund took the lead. From there on out it was all Bangsund stretching his advantage and picking up his first career feature win. Laage had a nice run coming home second followed by Peters, Horn and Sahli.

Osakis, Mn drivers Irvin Cook and Alan Johnson shared the front row starting duties for the 20-lap WISSOTA Super Stock A-main. Cook took off into the early lead while Mike Peterson quickly moved into second. Sixth starter Jeff Flaten moved into third on lap four with Cook still out front. Peterson and Flaten battled for the second spot on lap five while eighth starter Jon Stepan began to work his way to the front. Stepan moved into the top five on lap eight and looked as if he might be a factor. Nearing the half way point of the race Peterson began to apply pressure to the backside of Cook. Cook fought off his challenges for the time being while Stepan moved into fourth. With six laps remaining Dominic Baker exploded an engine bringing out the caution. On the restart Peterson got a good jump and sling-shotted by Cook down the backstretch. Flaten was able to move into second quickly while Peterson began to stretch his lead out front. The Dawson, Mn driver looked great in the remaining laps and went on to pick up his first win of the season. Flaten had a great run in the second spot ahead of Stepan, Cook and Johnson. Cody Lee had a very nice run moving from 12th to 6th.

Terry Engebretson beat Mike Storck to turn one and grabbed the lead in the WISSOTA Modified A-main. Engebretson immediately stretched his advantage while many battles ensued on the speedway. Danny Bayer moved into the third spot early on with Engebretson still way out front. After going to back early on in the event, Jason Thoennes quickly began his onslaught toward the front. Thoennes moved by Brad Loveday for the eighth spot just eight laps into the event. Thoennes continued his march forward while Dennis Bitzan began his march. Bitzan quickly moved by Gilbertson and Bayer via the top of the speedway. Engebretson had a sizable advantage with six laps remaining but it wasn't long and the #10x of Bitzan had caught him. With five laps remaining Bitzan disposed of Engebretson for the lead via the bottom groove in turn one. Thoennes picked off two more cars in the remaining laps ending a great run in the fifth spot. In the end, however, it was all Bitzan picking up the win. Engebretson had a great run in the second spot followed by Bayer, Gilbertson and Thoennes. Fort Frances, Ontario driver Brad Loveday finished 9th.

Breeschoten blasted off from his outside row one starting position and took the lead on lap one. Breeschoten brought the 15-car field around was scored the leader at the conclusion of the first circuit. Breeschoten quickly moved out to a very sizable advantage while Shaun Peterson ran in second. Fifth starter Rick Schroeder moved into third on lap five with Zach Johnson in fourth. Breeschoten was all alone out front while the best battle on the speedway was for the fourth spot between Schroeder, Johnson and Jeff Hinkemeyer. A few yellow halted action before Johnson finally got by Schroeder for the third spot on lap twelve. The final yellow of the event waved on lap sixteen when Shaun Peterson made contact with the turn four tire barrier. Shaun was okay but was finished for the night. That put Johnson and Schroeder on the rear bumper of Breeschoten for the restart. Hinkemeyer quickly moved by Schroeder for the third spot on the restart while Breeschoten continued to pound the cushion all the way around the speedway. Johnson tried to make the bottom groove work but it wouldn't be enough on this night as Breeschoten went on to take his first win of the season. Johnson had a great run moving from his eighth starting position to finish second followed by Hinkemeyer Schroeder and eleventh starter Shawn Kirwin.
