Como Mod Series To Reward Mod Nationals Heat Winners In ‘08

Prepared by FYE Motorsports Promotions – St. Cloud, MN (May 28th 2008)

With the 4th Annual $7,000 to win Minnesota Modified Nationals only 5 weeks away, FYE Motorsports owner Chris Stepan is busily preparing for WISSOTA’s biggest paying Modified special for the 4th straight year. Not only will this year’s winner receive $7,000 and a 5’ trophy, but he will also etch his name in the record books as being the champion of one of the biggest paying Modified events in the entire country. In fact, in 2008, there are only 10 dirt Modified events anywhere in the world that pay $7,000 to win or more and the Mod Nationals is one of them.

Jason Thoennes, Shane Sabraski and Dave Cain have graced victory lane and raced to the $7,000 winner’s payday over the first three seasons of this mega-event, held at the Viking Speedway in Alexandria, Minnesota over the 4th of July holiday weekend each summer, which typically boasts 60+ cars from 6 states and Canada each year.

A new twist to this year’s Mod Nationals will see each of the Modified heat race winners picking up a $100 bonus each courtesy of the Como Oil & Propane Modified Series. Series Director Joe Stariha has offered up $100 to each of the heat race winners at this year’s Mod Nationals and has also come on board as the official trophy sponsor for the top three finishers in this year’s 50-lap Modified feature event.

Stariha and his wife Jodi are big race fans and are thrilled to come on board and be associated with the biggest paying Modified special in the upper Midwest this season. Stariha said “ I am excited to be a part of the Mod Nationals this year. The Como Mod Series and Mod Nationals have always worked together so that we didn’t book races that conflict with each other in order for the Mod drivers to attend all of our shows plus the Mod Nationals. It is great to see Modified events that pay this kind of money in our area that allow our local drivers to run for these types of purses.” Como Oil has signed a three-year sponsorship agreement with FYE Motorsports to be on board for 2008, 2009 and 2010.

The Mod Nationals has produced some of the most intense Modified racing action over the past three years, and is expected to do so again in ’08. An open practice will be held from 7p-10p on Thursday night, July 3rd with racing action kicking off on Friday, July 4th and Saturday, July 5th with the city of Alexandria fireworks display being held after the races on Saturday night as well.
