Alexandria, Mn (July 8, 2006) - For the second time in his young career, Jake Wildman picked up the feature win in the WISSOTA Midwest Modified division at Viking Speedway. While Wildman hoisted the hardware in the Midwest Modified division, Mark Blom, Scot Danzeisen, Jay McDonald, and Jeff Hinkemeyer all garnered wins in their respective divisions as well. The action was hot and heavy from the first green flags and on several occasions fans rose to their feet.

As customary at the Viking Speedway, the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds were first on tap with Scott Werk and Kyle Reents on the front row. Werk found his line, hit his marks, and grabbed the lead on the opening circuit. Wildman used the cushion in turn two to dispose of Reents for the second spot while Werk stretched his lead out front. Jason Schoep expired an engine on lap four which bunched up the field behind race leader Werk. On the restart Wildman took a peak to the inside of Werk in turn two but was not able to make the pass. Sixth starter Scott Paulson moved into fourth on lap six looking very impressive motoring around the extreme top side of the speedway. On lap seven Wildman still pressured Werk for the point while the action was hot and heavy behind them. At the conclusion of lap seven, Bob Hansen looped his machine on the fro stretch which brought out the third yellow of the event.

On the restart, Wildman once again showed Werk a wheel in turn two. The duo raced side by side down the backstretch before Wildman gained the advantage as the field race out of turn four. Paulson moved into third on the next lap and He and Werk began a spirited battle for the runner up position. Fourteenth starter Korey Krafthefer moved into eighth on lap eleven and he blistered the cushion around the entire speedway. Eleventh starter Danny Bayer cracked the top five with two laps to go which proved the be the final position change of the event. Wildman stretched the advantage to nearly a straightaway when it was all said and done and went on to take his first feature win of the season at the speedway. Paulson had a great run finishing second while Brady Peterson, Jamie Thorstad, and Danny Bayer rounded out the top five.

Mark Blom ducked his machine under Rick Sahli and Justin Vogel and blasted out of turn two to grab the early lead in the WISSOTA Street Stock finale. Blom immediately stretched his early lead and was scored the leader at the conclusion of the first circuit. Ninth starter Scott Paulson moved up four positions to crack the top five on lap two while Blom continued to stretch the lead out front. The best battle on the speedway was the for the fourth spot between Scott Horn and Paulson. Paulson showed Horn a fender on lap five as the two drag raced out of turn two. Horn was able to hold the position despite plenty of pressure from Paulson. Blom raced from there on out and took his second win of the season at the speedway. “Nitro” Jimmy Williams finished second with Horn, Paulson, and Jay Hedkte rounding out the top five.

Jason Blasyck beat fellow row one starter Steve Polich to the first turn and grabbed the early lead during the WISSOTA Super Stock main event. Most of the cars powered around the cushion while Scot Danzeisen did his best to make the ditch work. On lap six the eleventh starter Danzeisen had cracked the top five while the rest of the field battle tooth and nail. Danzeisen grabbed some moisture on the bottom of the speedway on lap seven and cruised by Mike Peterson to take over the fourth position. The battle for third was on during lap eight with Danzeisen still working the bottom with Steve Polich working the pedal through the middle. Danzeisen won the battle one lap later and at that time struck up a battle with another #50 car. Danzeisen and Roger Host then began a battle which Danzeisen ultimately won when he powered by Host exiting turn two. The battle for the lead came to a head with seven laps remaining when Danzeisen had successfully tracked down Blasyck for the lead. The only yellow flag of the event waived on lap fifteen which bunched up the field behind Blasyck. When the green dropped on the restart, Danzeisen raced by Blasyck for the point one again on the bottom of the speedway in turn two. Blasyck did his best to stay even but it was a battle he would ultimately relinquish. Blasyck had a very impressive run ending his night in second while Host, Polich, and row four starter Todd Carter all members of the top five as well.

Specialty Fabricating was well represented on the front row with Jay McDonald and Mark Esala sharing the duties. Fifth starter Dennis Bitzan used a power to move to race by Jamie Lemke for the third spot on the opening lap as McDonald grabbed the lead. On lap two Bitzan moved up to do battle with McDonald. Bitzan road the ditch while McDonald worked the pedal in the middle groove. On lap four Danzeisen moved into third after starting the event in ninth. Sixth starter Matt Gilbertson moved into fourth on lap four when he powered by Lemke using the bottom groove in turn two. The first yellow of the event waived on lap five which sent a couple drivers pitside with extensive damage. On the restart Gilbertson and Danzeisen struck up a battle for the third spot with Gilbertson seizing the spot in turn two. Tenth starter Jason Thoennes moved into fourth on lap ten using the inside groove to his advantage. McDonald and Bitzan continued to battle up front while McDonald held the advantage. Gilbertson closed in on the top two front-runners when the caution flag waived with two laps remaining. On the restart Bitzan made a power move in turn two which pulled him event with McDonald. Gilbertson mashed the pedal and made it a three car battle for the lead. McDonald carried enough momentum off of turn four to keep the lead as the white flag waived. Bitzan once again showed McDonald a wheel as the duo raced out of turn two. McDonald once again made no mistakes and raced on to his first feature win of the season. Bitzan capped a great run in second while Gilbertson, Thoennes, and Danzeisen were credited with top five runs as well. Shane Sabraski came from row seven to finish sixth.

The high powered WISSOTA Late Models were last on the docket for the Steve Wagner Memorial Late Model Special. Minnesota and North Dakota each put a competitor on the front row with Greg Meyer and Jeff Hinkemeyer manning the duties. Hinkemeyer blasted off into the early lead while eighth starter John Seitz moved up two positions to take over sixth. On lap seven, thirteenth starter Jason Thoennes moved up five positions and found himself in the eighth spot with thirteen laps still remaining. Two laps clicked off before Thoennes powered by Rick Nelson on the bottom of the speedway in turn one taking over seventh. Rick Sweet and Meyer battled for the second spot with each pedaling around the middle of the speedway. With seven laps remaining, Thoennes expired a motor in turn four which brought out the final yellow of the contest. Hinkemeyer was still your leader with Sweet, Meyer, Peterson, and Seitz all in tow. Five laps clicked by on the restart before Seitz took the fourth spot from Peterson in turn one. Jeff Wildung cracked the top five with one lap remaining while Hinkemeyer continued to stretch his lead out font. Hinkemeyer raced unchallenged to the mighty impressive victory. Sweet, Meyer, Seitz, and Wildung each finished in the top five as well.
